Panic gripped the city last night as residents rushed en masse to ATMs to withdraw cash. The queues stretched for dozens of meters, people were nervous and jostled, creating chaos on the streets.
The reason for this unexpected rush was a large-scale technical failure in the online banking system. From the beginning of the evening, users were unable to access their accounts, make transfers or pay for services. Many feared their funds had been blocked and decided to protect themselves by withdrawing the maximum amount of cash.
Some ATMs quickly ran out of money, increasing panic and creating an atmosphere of uncontrollable chaos.
A spokesperson, a bank spokesperson, said the glitch was caused by a technical problem with the server. “We are working to fix the problem and expect online banking to be available as soon as possible,” the bank representative said.
The situation is still unstable, with authorities urging the public to remain calm and not to panic.
